These are the Outcomes for the Religious Education Program by grade level and are the minimum of what your child should be taught by the end of each grade level. We would ask that you always keep in mind that Our Lady of Guadalupe School of Religion Program is a wonderful way to supplement your child’s spiritual formation, “Parents are the principal and first educators of their children.” (CCC1653)

1st Grade: Family, Bible & Scripture, Baptism, Resurrection, How the Church began, Prayers
2nd Grade: Bible, Reconciliation, 10 Commandments, Law of Love, Act of Contrition, Examination of Conscience, Eucharist, Mass, Trinity
3rd Grade: Corporal & Spiritual Works of Mercy, Peace & Justice, Saints, Bible & Scripture, Four Marks of the Church, Apostle’s Creed, Rosary
4th Grade: Beatitudes, 10 Commandments, Respect for all life, Structure of the Church, Saints, Bible & Scripture, Prayer, Liturgical Year
5th Grade: Mary, Rosary, Holy Days of Obligation, Symbols of the Sacraments and importance of each, Vocations
6th Grade: 10 Commandments, Formation of Conscience, Old Testament, Apostle’s Creed, Salvation History, Saints
7th Grade: Personal application of Parables, Precepts of the Church, Traditions of the Church, Moral Decision Making, Discrimination, Respect of Life and Sexuality
8th Grade: Church History, United States Catholic History, Saints and the history of the Church, Chastity & Celibacy, Bible & Scripture, Gifts of the Holy Spirit, Fruits of the Holy Spirit, Prayers, Family Discussion, Teachings of the Church on Societal Issues, New Testament
