Augustinian Recollect Missionary Sisters

 Sister Maria Luz Hernandez a native of Topeka, took her vows in 1958 with the Augustinian Recollect Missionary Sisters.  Sister Maria has served God and the Roman Catholic Church abroad from Colombia to Spain and in the United States from Newark, NJ to Los Angeles.  She established the Augustinian Recollect Missionary Convent one block from Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in 2007 at 110 NE Chandler, Topeka, Kansas.  

Sister Maria returned to Topeka in 1999 to carry on her ministry to Hispanics and the children in the Holy Family Catholic School (formerly known as Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School).  Sister Juanita Banuelos from Los Angeles, California and Sister Rebecca Granado from Phoenix, Arizona and Sister Rita Stadler from Topeka, Kansas, work tirelessly in our community, teaching at Holy Family School and the School of Religion.  The Augustinian Sisters serve as a role model to our youth and our parishioners as they walk on their faith journey sharing the love of Our Lord.
